Chelsea have agreed on a deal with Strasbourg for the transfer of Deivid Washington.

According to a report from French publication L’Equipe, Chelsea have agreed to sell the Brazilian attack for a fee of around €21 million. They signed the player for a fee of €16 million last year and the Blues will make a profit on him, even though he has played just 28 minutes of football for them.

Strasbourg are owned by the American consortium BlueCo which owns Chelsea as well.

Deivid Washington needs regular game time

Meanwhile, Washington will look to get his career back on track with regular first-team action now. The 19-year-old is highly rated across Europe and he has a bright future. He will look to establish himself as a key player for the Ligue 1 club.

The Brazilian does not have a future at Chelsea and he would have struggled for regular game time at the London club. It makes sense for him to move on in search of regular playing time. Meanwhile, Chelsea have been able to recoup their money for the player and they will look to bring a quality attacker before the transfer window closes.

They have been linked with players like Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney in recent weeks. It will be interesting to see who they end up signing. They need to bring in a reliable goalscorer if they are serious about a top for finish and competing for domestic trophies.

Chelsea will certainly hope that the club does not regret the decision to let the 19-year-old leave this summer. He has all the attributes to develop into a top class attacker and Washington will be determined to prove his worth at the highest level.
