Chelsea are facing a nightmare dilemma over Conor Gallagher in the summer transfer window at the end of the season, according to reports.
That’s because his transfer value is falling as his deal runs towards its final 12 months – but his salary profile is increasing – which has complicated contract talks.
There remains no significant progress over a new deal for Gallagher and while it is expected a contract extension will be offered, an agreement is far from certain.
According to The Telegraph, Chelsea could lose Gallagher completely this summer with Tottenham set to make a fresh move for the England international.
Tottenham have been linked to Gallagher for some time but Chelsea are reluctant to let the 24-year-old join one of their biggest rivals in Spurs.
But they may have little choice given Gallagher has been somewhat picky over his next club after he rejected both Everton and West Ham.
Chelsea could decide to let Gallagher leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2025 but that is unlikely due to the fact that he is an academy graduate, which means that any transfer fee they would receive in 2024 would mark pure profit.
Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou is a huge fan of Gallagher and believes he would be a perfect fit at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Gallagher has been in sensational form for Chelsea this season and scored twice in a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Monday night.
Speaking after the match, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino insisted that Gallagher was ‘priceless’.
