Chelsea get blasted for their recruitment policy

This is the media release that has been the talk of England since yesterday evening. Jamie Carragher has given himself a diatribe against Chelsea and its incomprehensible recruitment policy. Because yesterday a new agreement was announced for the recruitment of a player, namely João Félix, from Atlético de Madrid, for €53 million. However, the Blues did not seem to be lacking in attacking players, since they already have Mudryk, Palmer, Neto, Nkunku, Broja, Madueke, Jackson, Sterling, Guiu, without even mentioning those who are expected to leave like Romelu Lukaku, David Datro Fofana or Deivid Washington.

This new transfer therefore raises questions and during the Monday Night Football on SkysportsJamie Carragher said out loud the analysis shared by many fans of the London club. “Chelsea need to stop buying players and players need to stop signing for Chelsea. I don’t know why, if I was a player, I would look at Chelsea and sign.”said the former Liverpool defender, before continuing.

“Where is João Félix going to change at the training center?”

“The only reason you would do it is if your agent says ‘we’re going to sign a seven-year deal with a lot of money’ – it’s guaranteed money. You know how I feel about that. Respect yourself as a player, sign a four-year deal at a real club, do the right thing. (…) I don’t understand why players sign seven-year deals. There’s nothing in it. This is not a young, exciting team. They’ve just signed Joao Felix – tell me where he’s going to play. They signed Neto a week ago – where’s he going to play when there’s Cole Palmer? Big football teams need competition. But in every team I’ve played for, there were seven or eight players who knew they were playing every week.”

For the moment, Chelsea have recruited 9 players on the market, soon 10 with João Félix, but already had an excessive squad. On social networks, jokes follow one another about the number of players under contract (45) and the impossibility of making all these people live together. “Chelsea must now be thinking about this: where is Felix going to change at the training ground? If you have 40 players, how do you find your way into a dressing room? How do you organise a training session?”Carragher mocked. The job does indeed seem complicated in these conditions for Enzo Maresca, the new Blues coach, who is not complaining about it, however.
