If Chelsea Green had her way, the controversial butterfly title, the Divas Championship, would be making its way back to WWE programming.
For those unaware, the WWE Divas Championship existed from 2008 to 2016. To many fans, the title represents an era where the women’s division of the company wasn’t treated properly and didn’t get enough TV time. The title was retired at WrestleMania 32 when they introduced the new WWE Women’s Championship.
SmackDown Superstar Chelsea Green recently spoke to Ring the Belle. When asked why she’s said as of late that she’d love to bring back the Divas Championship, Green noted because it’s a controversial take and it gets everybody talking about her in the process.
“Well, first of all, because that’s the thing. It’s a controversial take and everybody’s talking,” Chelsea Green said. “I think that’s what people don’t understand is, when you tweet about me, you’re doing me a favor. You are making me go viral. So that’s what’s happening.” [H/T: Fightful]
