Chelsea Green says her current WWE run is exactly how she wanted it to go before her initial release.
The former Women’s Tag Team Champion was unceremoniously released by the WWE in 2021. However, she quickly made her way back to the company, re-debuting at the 2023 Royal Rumble to a huge pop in the titular match.
Since her return, she has been incredibly successful and featured regularly on TV. This is exactly what she wanted from her run the first time before she lost her job during COVID.
Chelsea Green spoke with Gorilla Position about her current WWE run. The former tag team champion noted that “everything happens for a reason”, and that she is doing everything she wanted to do in her first WWE run.
“I feel like this is everything I wanted the first go around. And, you know, when they say ‘everything happens for a reason,’ I truly feel like I’m living that. There was a reason that I got released, and then I went out and explored every avenue of the indies. I came back, and now I’m doing exactly what I want.”
“Look at it—it’s like, when you give someone the freedom and the platform to express themselves properly like I’ve been given right now, that’s when success happens.”
Chelsea Green Wants To Be Co-Champion With Piper Niven
Chelsea Green was asked about potentially wrestling her friend Piper Niven in a world title match. She refused the match, wanting to stick together, win the tag team titles again and hold the Women’s World Championship together, a la Laycool.
“I don’t know about that. I think we’re going to stick together—we’re going to become two-time, maybe even three-time Tag Team Champions. Then we’ll go on, and we’ll really clean house.”
Niven mentioned holding the world title together, to which Green added, “We were hoping for that, you know. It’ll come—we’re manifesting 2025. Good things come to those who wait.”
