Chelsea are in talks to sign Verona midfielder Reda Belahyane, according to reports in Italy.
The Premier League side are expected to sell Cesare Casadei before the end of the transfer window and the 22-year-old is set to return to Serie A.
Lazio and Torino have both expressed a strong interest in signing Casadei but Chelsea are demanding a €15 million (£12.6m) transfer fee as well as a sell-on clause.
Sky Sports Italy report that Chelsea have already lined up a replacement for Casadei and are now ‘pushing hard’ to sign Belahyane from Verona.
The report adds that Chelsea’s deal for Belahyane is worth €15m (£12.6m).
Belahyane joined Verona for just €500,000 (£420,000) one year ago.
The defensive midfielder has made 20 appearances in Serie A this season and has been capped once by Morocco.
Elsewhere, Chelsea are set to hold talks with Manchester United over a deal for Alejandro Garnacho.
Napoli have also been in negotiations for the Argentina international this week but have not met United’s €65m (£54.8m) asking price.
It’s understood that Garnacho’s preference would be to remain in the Premier League, which could hand Chelsea an advantage over Napoli if they are able to reach an agreement with United.
