Chelsea have been linked with the move for the Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.

The 25-year-old central defender has been linked with the move away from the club and Manchester United are keeping tabs on him as well.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are looking to sign the Uruguay international as a potential replacement for Thiago Silva who will leave the club in the summer. The Brazilian international will be a free agent in the summer and he will need to be replaced adequately.

Araujo has proven his quality in the Spanish league and he is certainly good enough for the Premier League. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for Chelsea next season. The Blues will not be able to provide him with Champions League football next season and it remains to be seen whether they can convince him to join.

Despite their struggles in recent seasons, Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world and the opportunity to join them could be quite tempting for most players.
