Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the best strikers in European football and he has 36 goals and 15 assists in all competitions this season.

A report from football transfers claims that Chelsea are keen on the striker as well but the Swedish international has now made Arsenal his first-choice club ahead of the summer transfer window.

The development will come as a major boost for Arsenal and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.

The striker has a €100 million release clause in his contract and Sporting CP will demand €80 million as the first instalment.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can afford to pay that amount.

They will need to improve the other areas of their squad as well and spending €80 million on a striker this summer might not be possible.

 Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal?

Viktor Gyokeres would improve Arsenal

Gyokeres would be an exceptional addition to their attacking unit and he could transform them in the final third. Gabriel Jesus has not been able to score goals consistently and the Swedish international would have been a major upgrade.

The 25-year-old has proven himself with Coventry City and Sporting CP in recent years. He will look to take the next step in his career and join a big club truly capable of winning major trophies.

A move to Arsenal could give him the platform to showcase his abilities at a higher level and he will hope that the Gunners can secure an agreement with Sporting CP in the coming months.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will need to improve their attacking options as well. The signing of Nicolas Jackson has not worked out, and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea decide to move onto other targets with Gyokeres prioritising a move to Arsenal instead.
