Southampton FC have secured the services of Lesley Ugochukwu. Lacking playing time at the Blues, the 20-year-old midfielder leaves Chelsea, a year after his arrival, and joins the Saints on loan with no option to buy. The former Rennes player will therefore be part of the English club’s long-awaited return to the Premier League after their promotion from the Championship.

Saint Lesley. We are delighted to announce the signing of Lesley Ugowhukwu” wrote Southampton on his X account. Recruited for 27 million euros by Chelsea last year, the London club did not want to include a purchase option in the loan of the 1m90 colossus, because the board still believes in his potential. Ugochukwu, who was injured for a large part of the season this year, will however have to gain playing time at the Saints, if he wishes to return to impose himself at Chelsea.
