He certainly didn’t expect such a return to London. Arriving on the Chelsea bench at the start of the season, Mauricio Pochettino is going through a very complicated patch with the Blues. Even if the Argentine tactician will have the opportunity to win the League Cup against Liverpool at the end of the month, the Stamford Bridge residents’ season is gloomy in the Premier League with an eleventh place in the standings. And while the noose tightens tirelessly around the former PSG coach, the latter is criticized by Chelsea supporters.

Asked about this by Sky SportsPochettino said he was aware of the disenchantment surrounding him: “If the fans like me? No, no, I have to be honest with you, no because I understand that they won the Champions League, they won cups, the Premier League. Why are the fans going to love me after six, seven months? We are in the final (in the League Cup, editor’s note), but we are not in a good position in the Premier League standings. I think at the moment I feel the respect from the fans, I see them in the street and they are all nice to me, but I can’t lie about the rest.»
