Chelsea are reportedly monitoring several ‘talented’ left-backs ahead of the summer window in what has become a transfer priority for the club.
The Blues are set for another major rebuild at the end of the season and it is thought that there could be as many as 15 departures from Stamford Bridge.
AFC Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is one of the left-backs being scouted by Chelsea – although they must battle Manchester United for his signature.
The west Londoners look destined to bring in a new left-back amid reports that Ian Maatsen, currently out on loan at Borussia Dortmund, could leave the club.
Chelsea are also hoping to offload another left-back – Marc Cucurella – to a team from the Saudi Pro League after co-owner Todd Boehly visited Riyadh for talks.
Chelsea have a third left-back in Ben Chilwell but injuries have largely derailed his season with the Englishman making just 12 top-flight appearances this term.
Like Chelsea, United are also in the market for a new left-back at the end of the season and it may not only be Kerkez that the two clubs end up fighting over.
Kerkez only joined Bournemouth in the summer but the Hungary international has impressed in his debut Premier League season on the south coast.
The 20-year-old has made 26 appearances for Andoni Iraola’s side to date and the Cherries would expect to make a significant profit on their young talented player.
Bournemouth paid around £15.5m to bring Kerkez in from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar and he signed a long-term contract in July 2023.
