According to reports, Chelsea are stepping up their efforts to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in an attempt to defeat Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in the transfer window.
Chelsea are willing to pay the €130 million release clause of the Nigerian striker in order to strengthen their offensive department, according to Rudy Galetti, who has identified the player as a top target.
Chelsea’s bold acquisition of Osimhen may have a big impact on the transfer market as well as Manchester United and other Premier League opponents.
Osimhen is being pursued by the Premier League club at a time when United also need to strengthen their attack.
With Anthony Martial leaving the club in the summer and Rasmus Hojlund being the only recognised striker in the squad, the club needs a forward who can share the load of scoring goals and help the Danish striker with his development.
A player of Osimhen’s caliber, who has proven his mettle in Serie A and grown to become one of Europe’s most sought-after attackers, would be beneficial to United’s squad and their ambitions to challenge for trophies.
Rasmus Hojlund lacks the required experience and skill to lead the line, despite the supporters’ strong desire to think otherwise.
In order to compliment the former Atalanta striker Hojlund, Ten Hag would be considering at least one other striker.
Depending on how the upcoming seasons play out for Chelsea and United, the decision to pass on Osimhen might be viewed as a costly miscalculation or as a smart one.
