Chelsea are reportedly really keen on a potential transfer move for Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento this summer as they look likely to replace Robert Sanchez, according to Simon Phillips via Substack.
The 24-year-old Brazilian shot-stopper looks likely to make a big move this summer, according to Phillips, and it seems Chelsea rate the player really highly as they make a new signing in goal one of their priorities.
Sanchez only joined Chelsea from Brighton last year, but he’s not really had the desired impact in his first season at Stamford Bridge, so it perhaps makes sense that the club are now chasing an upgrade.
Bento clearly looks like a player with a big future in the game, so it could be a good move for Chelsea to sign him before other clubs perhaps enter the race for his signature.

Aaron Ramsdale has also been linked with Chelsea, but it seems their recruitment team is not as united on that as some of the other ‘keepers being considered.
The report also mentions Chelsea’s interest in Filip Jorgensen, and it may be that going for someone more proven in Europe would be a safer bet than a player arriving from the Brazilian league, even if he looks like he has the potential to make it at the very highest level.

Chelsea have gambled on a lot of top young players and it’s yet to bring results, so one or two more experienced figures in the squad might help the west London giants find more consistency and a higher finish in the Premier League next season.
Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is another name mentioned, but some fans might also question if it’s a bit soon to be giving up on Sanchez, with more stability arguably needed after so many signings and manager changes in the last couple of years.
