On Tuesday, Chelsea parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino, the former PSG coach. The Premier League giants are now looking for a replacement, and one of the avenues being considered is in La Liga.

According to specialist journalist Ben Jacobs, Girona coach Michel Sanchez has been the subject of discussions within the Chelsea hierarchy, alongside Eddie Howe (Newcastle United) and Thomas Frank (Brentford).

A little more on the departure of Mauricio Pochettino and the rest of the events. Pochettino was not considered a strategic choice. The Argentine himself felt that the situation could deteriorate further if he stayed. This information was communicated to Todd Boehly, owner of the Blues, during a phone call.

From Girona to Chelsea?

Michel’s rating is incredibly high at the moment due to his exploits with Girona this season, and this isn’t the first Premier League job he’s been linked with. This is not the first time we have talked about him in the Premier League. He has also been touted as a candidate for Manchester United, and a move to England could be considered at some point.

However, it would be very surprising if this transfer took place this summer, as Michel is expected to lead Girona in their first ever Champions League campaign. That doesn’t mean he would turn Chelsea down if they came calling…
