Chelsea are reportedly set to offer Nicolas Jackson a two-year contract extension after finalising Cole Palmer’s new nine-year deal.

Following an outstanding debut season at Stamford Bridge, Palmer has been rewarded with a new contract on improved terms, despite still having seven years left on his old deal.

Since Todd Boehly’s takeover in 2022, Chelsea have made extremely long contracts the norm, with many of their players tied down until the next decade.

And that trend doesn’t appear to be stopping any time soon, with The Telegraph reporting that the Blues want Jackson to commit his future to the club until 2033, rather than 2031.

Talks over an extension have been planned between the club and the striker’s agent despite a mixed maiden campaign in west London.

The 23-year-old was signed from Villarreal for €37million (£31.6m) and would score 17 goals and make six assists in 44 appearances under Mauricio Pochettino.

But the Senegal international also became notorious for numerous howlers in front of goal, missing 24 big chances in the Premier League – only Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez had more.

It is not known if he will be due a wage increase, with Jackson reportedly earning £65,000-a-week.

Palmer’s new deal has seen his weekly salary increase from £80,000 to upwards of £120,000, putting him on par with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

Raheem Sterling remains Chelsea’s highest earner on £300,000-a-week, with his high wages making it unlikely that he’ll be sold this summer, despite interest from Juventus.

Enzo Maresca will hope his big earners can deliver the goods on the pitch when he makes his managerial debut with the Blues on Sunday as they kick-off their campaign against champions Manchester City.
