Barcelona have been keeping a close eye on exciting young talents coming through across the globe, particularly in Brazil, in a bid to strengthen the team with an eye on the future.

Vitor Roque was signed from Athletico Paranaense last year while the Blaugrana also closely followed Estevao Willian, although they were beaten to his signing by Chelsea.

And now, it appears that there might be a risk of Barça losing to Chelsea in the race for yet another teenage prodigy from the South American nation.

Chelsea table bid for Pedro Lima

Indeed, as per AS, Chelsea have tabled an opening offer worth around €8 million for Sport Recife teenager Pedro Lima.

The 17-year-old right-back has already broken into the senior setup at the Brazilian club and has featured 24 times, even racking up two goals and two assists.

As has been reported already, Barcelona and their arch-rivals Real Madrid have been tracking the teenage full-back. Other clubs like Juventus and PSG are also interested in the youngster.

But, Chelsea have now jumped ahead of the queue in the race for Lima by tabling an opening offer for the youngster.

Furthermore, the report states that Yuri Romao has travelled to London to negotiate the agreement for the teenager’s signing.

The Blues have been signing exciting young talents from Brazil in heaps under their ownership and now intend to close the deal for Lima as well.

While it is unclear as to how serious Barcelona were interested in Lima, they will likely miss out on the 17-year-old.

However, it is unlikely to be an issue for Barcelona who have secured the future of the right-back position by tying down Hector Fort to a new contract this week.
