Earlier this week, it was revealed that even if Barcelona sell one of their star players, in this case Ronald Araujo, for €100 million, it will not solve their FFP issues.
While it would create some margin, the club will have to depart with two-three big names and also complete the last economic lever — the sale of Barça Studios —, to actually reach the 1:1 margin in La Liga.
As such, offloading players becomes Barcelona’s biggest priority. While they will probably not let Araujo leave the club, there are other players in the team that can be sold for good money, the stacking of which will definitely help the club in the short and mid-term.
One of those sellable assets is Raphinha.
This summer, following Lamine Yamal’s breakthrough season, Barcelona could allow Raphinha to leave, or even push for his exit. Chelsea, Tottenham, and Al-Hilal are reportedly interested in his services, as per SPORT.
The Brazilian was close to leaving the club last summer itself, with Newcastle United having tabled an offer for his services. The approached was turned down, though, because Ousmane Dembele had just left the club to join PSG.
Raphinha picked up an injury against Osasuna in the Spanish Super Cup semi-finals, and has been out for over a month since then. He is expected to return against Granada, and has just over three months to prove his worth to Barça.
Barcelona are already moving ahead with Estevao’s signing, who only wants to join the Catalan outfit. Also a right-winger, he will compete against Yamal for a spot, and his signing could be funded from Raphinha’s transfer.
That said, the 27-year-old does not want to leave the club in the summer, and could use his former agent and now Barcelona sporting director, Deco’s help to plead his case.
