During this transfer window, the Chelsea club is once again preparing to break the bank for a footballer with a limited CV.

Chelsea have made an offer of 85 million euros for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres. According to the daily Record, the Lisbon club received and rejected the offer on Tuesday.

Chelsea ready to break the bank

The 25-year-old Swedish international has a €100 million release clause and Sporting have no intention of letting him leave for less than that.

Gyokeres has already scored 20 goals and provided 10 assists in 24 matches this season. Attractive figures, but he has never played in a major European championship.

The Scandinavian joined Sporting from Coventry in July 2023. In 2018, he had a stint at Brighton, but without being able to play a single match in the English elite.

Gyokeres is under contract with Sporting until 2028. And this is certainly the reason why the current leader of Liga NOS is so demanding for his services.
