Cherki, thunderbolt for OL?

Olympique Lyonnais could sell Rayan Cherki before the end of the winter transfer window on Thursday evening. With a big check at stake.

The OL transfer window is not yet over. If Lyon has been particularly active in terms of arrivals, with the already formalized signings of Lucas Perri, Adryelson, Gift Orban, Malick Fofana and Nemanja Matic, while undoubtedly awaiting those of Orel Mangala and Saïd Benrahma, a departure of size could be concluded in the very last hours of the winter transfer window.

According to British journalist Alan Nixon, Rayan Cherki would indeed be courted by Fulham. The English club, currently twelfth in the Premier League, would have even sent John Textor an offer of 35 million pounds sterling, or a little more than 40 million euros. An unexpected amount for a player who is certainly promising, but who has until now never confirmed the expectations placed on him.

€40 million for Cherki, is that yes?

Currently under contract until 2025 with Les Gones, the French junior international (20 years old) is valued at 25 million euros by the specialized site Transfermarkt. In six months, one year from the end of his lease, his rating will inevitably drop. For the Rhone team, selling him now would therefore be the best option. Especially given the XXL amount offered by the Cottagers.

If nothing is finalized yet, the Lyon attacking midfielder would be “waiting to reach London”, says Alan Nixon. His transfer could allow OL to balance their accounts a little after a recruitment which, once fully completed, should cost them around 65 million euros. Unless this unexpected envelope could unlock a new arrival?
