Chicago Fire could be potentially losing another key member of its cast. Viewers were left wondering about the fate of Sam Carver, played by Jake Lockett, after Episode 6 of Season 13, “Birds of Prey.” During the episode, Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) dismissed Carver from his shift with Firehouse 51 after he slept through a call siren and forgot to change out his tank after the last call, resulting in him getting into a fight with Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri) that Kidd overheard. Keep reading to find out more… Kidd told him that she’ll be calling in a floater to finish his work, telling him not to return to Firehouse 51 until he could get himself together. While viewers are speculating that the actor is leaving, there are clues that this won’t last forever. As Soaps.com notes, Jake still has Chicago Fire in his Instagram biography, which suggests he’s still on the series. The actor also hinted at Carver’s reunion with his on-again, off-again love interest, paramedic Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith), later in Season 13 amid his tumultuous romance with Tori (Holly Hinchliffe). “I think there’s some beauty in taking time. I think not rushing anything would be great. If they get back together, I love working with Hanako [Greensmith], so having those two get back together, we have great chemistry, and to be able to allow those two characters to come together, I think a lot of people want it. If you look at social media, there’s a lot of people being like, ‘Who is this girl? [Tori.] What are you doing? Get your head on straight?’” he told Parade last month. “I think there’s a lot of love for our relationship, so hopefully that does happen at some point. And if it doesn’t, that’ll be fine too, we’ll figure it out. I think as an actor it’s difficult but fun to deal in the unstated, and that’s really where we’re at with Sam, so I’m hoping they keep doing that. It’s a challenge for me and it’s exciting to deal with that on camera with other great actors. I’m very lucky.” He also admitted that there was “doubt” about whether he would return before he eventually got confirmation that Carver would becoming back for Season 13. “Until it’s official, nothing’s official, so there’s always a little bit of healthy doubt. But it felt good from the moment I saw the script; I had a lot of love from this team and they made sure I knew what was happening. So, it felt good right from the start, but I’m glad it was the way it was. It’s always nice to be able to grow and change with the character, and I feel like that’s exactly what Sam is doing,” he explained. Stay tuned, and we’ll see what happens!
