Jimmy Jacobs praises Chris Jericho and the Festival of Friendship
Recently, Jimmy Jacobs was interviewed by Bryan Asbury of Developmentally Speaking. During the interview, the former WWE writer mentioned that one of his favorite segments to work in was the Festival of Friendship storyline with Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho.
“The Festival of Friendship was great. Yeah, that was good. Because that was like the culmination of the Kevin [Owens] and Chris [Jericho] stuff. Which was like the fun stuff I did there. It’s weird being in creative and… You just… You’re working on different stuff mostly every week. But then you like… The Kevin and Chris stuff was something that I was on and I sort of stayed on it. It was my thing. I mean it’s not my thing. It was the thing that I was helping write and produce. Because it’s all a collaborative thing. That’s something that was a big change when I started working backstage. The buck doesn’t stop with you right?
The buck stops with you
“As a performer the buck stops with you. It doesn’t matter what anybody says beforehand. It doesn’t matter what anybody thinks. It’s like the buck stops with you. You are the guy in the ring that’s going to do whatever. And it’s going to be good because if it’s going to be bad, it’s bad because of you. As a writer working creative, you just, you guys talk and you go, ‘All right! Go out there’. And you hope it’s going to be good or you hope it’s going to be great or… And so nothing is really yours.”
“You just have a hand in it. I was grateful to have a hand… Working with Chris and that fun time with him and Kevin. And the Festival of Friendship was just kind of the culmination of that. I remember feeling like, ‘F*** that was a home run. We did it!’ It was the first time since I’d wrestled that I remember going to a show that day. Feeling that game day like anxiety. The same way you feel when you have a big match. So that was just fun,” Jimmy Jacobs said.
