Chris Jericho gives his thoughts on John Cena announcing that he will be retiring from professional wrestling at the end of 2025.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Chris Jericho was a recent guest on McGuire on Wrestling. When asked about John Cena’s Money in the Bank announcement that he’ll be retiring from WWE next year, Jericho joked that his career has gone longer than Cena’s but thinks it’s a cool way to go about wrapping up his legendary career.
“My career is already longer than John Cena’s,” Chris Jericho joked. “No, I mean, it’s great. John’s always had a great love for wrestling, and he’s got a great connection with the fans, so I think it’s a cool way to go about it.
“People know that this is it, and John’s not the type of guy to say anything lightly, so I’m sure he’s been focused on this and working with the company to make sure it’s right. And I’m sure it’s going to be a really great year and a half for Cena fans and for John Cena himself.”
Despite enjoying how Cena is going about his own retirement, Jericho doesn’t plan on a huge sendoff himself. Last year, he told Chris Van Vliet that he won’t have a retirement match and plans to just disappear when it’s time to do so.
