Chris O’Donnell Joins ABC’s ‘9-1-1: Nashville’

Chris O’Donnell (NCIS: Los Angeles) has joined the cast of ABC‘s 9-1-1: Nashville in a series regular role.

O’Donnell is the first cast member to join the 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Television drama which received a straight-to-series order from the network last month. He will star as ‘Captain Don Sharpe,’ a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse with his beloved son. Don’s a devoted husband and family man but he has his secrets.

The new offshoot joins the mothership series 9-1-1 on ABC where it moved to in 2023 following its cancellation at FOX. The second series from the franchise, 9-1-1: Lone Star, was cancelled after five seasons in 2023 and completed its run in February.

9-1-1: Nashville is written and executive produced by the franchise’s co-creators Ryan Murphy & Tim Minear and 9-1-1: Lone Star showrunner Rashad Raisani and will premiere during the 2025-26 season. The drama will also will be executive produced by Brad Falchuk, co-creator of the first two 9-1-1 series with Murphy and Minear, and 9-1-1 star Angela Bassett, who also executive produced Lone Star.The new offshoot joins the mothership series 9-1-1 on ABC where it moved to in 2023 following its cancellation at FOX.

Working on 9-1-1: Nashville won’t be O’Donnell’s first time on a procedural, far from it. The actor spent 14 seasons on the CBS hit series NCIS: Los Angeles in the role of “Grisha ‘G’ Callen,” the special agent in charge of the office of special projects. Most recently, O’Donnell portrayed Pete Davidson’s agent in the Peacock dramedy Bupkis. His TV credits also include the TNT miniseries The Company and ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy.

O’Donnell made his motion picture debut as Jessica Lange’s rebellious son in Paul Brickman’s, Men Don’t Leave. In 1993, he was nominated for a Golden Globe and won the Chicago Film Critics Award for his role opposite Al Pacino in the Academy Award winning film, Scent of a Woman, directed by Marty Brest. He is also known for his portrayal of Robin in 1995’s Batman Forever. Additional film credits include The Chamber, Fried Green Tomatoes, In Love and War, Cookies Fortune and Vertical Limit.
