EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios’ Timur Bekmambetov directed sci-fi thriller Mercy with Chris Pratt will now hit cinemas around the globe on Jan. 23, 2026.
The previous release date was Aug. 15, 2025. That will leave the Universal Bob Odenkirk action movie Nobody 2 standing alone on Aug. 15.
On its new date, Mercy stands unopposed, though receiving a week after the MLK theatrical releases, Weapons from Warner Bros and Sony’s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and an untitled movie from Disney.
Set in the near future when capital crime has increased, Mercy follows a detective (Pratt) who is accused of a violent crime and forced to prove his innocence. Pic also stars Rebecca Ferguson (Dune franchise, Mission Impossible franchise), Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country), Annabelle Wallis (Blinders, The Mummy), Chris Sullivan (This Is Us), Kenneth Choi (9-1-1), Kylie Rogers (Beau is Afraid), Rafi Gavron (A Star is Born), and Jeff Pierre (Walker).
Marco van Belle (Arthur & Merlin) wrote the movie. The project came to Amazon MGM Studios from Academy Award-winning and Golden Globe Award-winning producer Charles Roven (American Hustle), who earned an Academy Award for Best Picture on Oppenheimer last year. Charles Roven is producing Mercy with Atlas Entertainment executive Robert Amidon, alongside Bekmambetov and Majd Nassif.
Pratt had a the highly viewed feature film The Tomorrow War on Amazon’s Prime during Covid.
