Eriksen’s strike came from fantastic build-up play including several Manchester United players. Manuel Ugarte won the ball in midfield with a strong tackle and sparked a move that saw Joshua Zirkzee release Alejandro Garnacho.
Noussair Mazraoui put the ball into Zirkzee’s path following a low cross from Garnacho, and the Dutch striker’s lay-off invited Eriksen to strike the ball first time into the back of the net.
It was Eriksen’s second goal in the Europa League this season after his finish against FC Twente in the first round of fixtures.
United made it three draws in three games in the Europa League after it ended 1-1 in Istanbul.
Eriksen’s strike ensured Erik ten Hag’s side led at the interval, but Youssef En-Nesyri levelled just four minutes into the second half.
Christian Eriksen adds to his season tally
Photo by Stu Forster/Getty ImagesAfter scoring the opening goal against Fenerbahce, Eriksen’s season tally jumped to four.
It’s an impressive record for an experienced midfielder we didn’t think would feature regularly this season.
However, Eriksen is currently one of the first names on the teamsheet.
The Dane struggled with injuries last season but he is now getting a run back in the team.
Eriksen’s goals only help explain why Ten Hag is selecting him every week.
