Christian pilgrim board trains staff

The Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board has held a one-day seminar for operations staff in preparation for a hitch-free pilgrimage exercise to the Holy lands coming up soon.

According to a Thursday statement, the seminar held at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, and was aimed at ensuring that the operations staff were enlightened about their roles and responsibilities during the pilgrimage exercise.

The Board Secretary of the LSCPWB, Florence Gbafe, while addressing participants, stated that the workers were carefully selected from medical and media practitioners, administrators and clerics, to see to the physical and spiritual well-being of the pilgrims while on pilgrimage.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Adewunmi Ogunsanya, urged the operations staff to be worthy ambassadors of the state and follow the rules and regulations set by the leaders.

“We must comport ourselves in the best way possible so that at the end of the exercise, we will have a great memory of our activities during this year’s pilgrimage,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, the chairman of the board, Bishop Babatunde Akinpelu-Johnson, urged participants to use their expertise to serve the pilgrims as worthy ambassadors of the Lagos State Government.

On his part, a board member, Oluwayemisi Adeyemi, said the board put a lot in place to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims.

While appreciating Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support, he stated that arrangements for the safety of pilgrims, their accommodation and transportation were already sorted out during the pre-visit exercise a few months back.
