The Borno State Police Command has mobilised over 3,000 officers to ensure safety and security at churches and other critical locations throughout the state during the Christmas celebrations.
The coordinated effort, which involved the police, military, Civilian Joint Task Force, and fire services, aimed to provide a peaceful and secure environment for worshippers.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Nahum Daso explained that the show of force patrol covered strategic locations, including churches and funfair parks, ensuring a hitch-free celebration.
“The Borno State Police Command, led by CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted a show of force patrol across the state,” the statement read.
“The patrol covered strategic locations, churches, funfair parks, and other places, providing safety and security for citizens and residents.”
The efforts were well received by the Christian faithful.
A member of Dunamis International Church, Ade Blessing, shared that the presence of security personnel provided peace of mind during the service.
“We had security personnel on the ground, even on the road. This settled our minds during and after the service,” she said.
Similarly, Ibiya Emmanuel from Christ Apostolic Church in Wulari expressed gratitude for the security arrangements.
“Police and other local forces were on the ground. We thank them for their support throughout the festivities,” he said.
The Borno State Police Command had previously announced the deployment of 3,000 personnel to ensure the safety of lives and property during the holiday period.
