Hyderabad: Minister Ponnam Prabhakar held a review meeting with officials to discuss the drinking water situation in the city ahead of the summer season. The meeting included Commissioner Ronald Rose, Collector Anudeep, Mayor Gadwala Vijayalakshmi, Deputy Mayor Srilatha, Zonal Commissioners, and officers at the GHMC headquarters. The Minister instructed water board officials to ensure that there are no drinking water problems for the residents. He also emphasized the importance of developing the Musi River without obstacles.
HMWSSB MD Sudarshan Reddy provided an update on sewerage development in the city. He mentioned that there were previously 25 Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), with an additional 31 currently under construction and five already completed. Hyderabad is recognized for having 40% sewage cleanliness in the country.

During the meeting, Minister Ponnam urged officials to work diligently. Commissioner Ronald Rose gave a detailed presentation on ongoing development work, department-wise performance, and GHMC’s measures. He highlighted efforts to prevent flooding during the monsoon season and the development of Nalas through the Strategic Nala Development Programme (SNDP).
Minister Ponnam announced that the Chief Minister allocated Rs 10 crore to address district issues. He emphasized the need for coordination among the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, governing body members, corporators, public representatives, and officials to promote the city’s development. The Minister also mentioned plans to ensure timely payment of salaries for state government employees and GHMC employees from the 1st to the 5th of each month. Additionally, a special Officer on Special Duty (OSD) will be appointed to address GHMC concerns.
