Claudio Castagnoli thinks that Jon Moxley has found his fire after a recent heel turn.
The former WWE Champion led Claudio Castagnoli and the Blackpool Combat Club in a brutal heel turn against Bryan Danielson at AEW All Out. The group attacked the AEW Champion, before choking him with a plastic bag as fans looked on in shock.
This character change has revitalised Moxley, who is doing some of the best work on the microphone in his career. It is setting up for a match with Danielson at Wrestledream, where Jon Moxley could become the AEW Champion once again.
Claudio Castagnoli recently spoke with Rick Ucchino for The Takedown on Sports Illustrated. He talked about Jon Moxley finding his purpose again after some time off TV.
The former ROH Champion added that Moxley helped the group feel “real” again, and that the former WWE Champion has “found that fire” again in AEW.
“I feel he needed that time off to kind of reconnect with himself and find his purpose, so to speak, or regain his purpose.” Claudio Castagnoli said. “I can’t speak for Jon, but I felt like the last couple months before he came back, you know we always have the ‘Be Real’ on our shirts, I didn’t really feel real. It felt like, okay, we’re just kind of going through the motions.”
“Something was missing. And with Jon, I can definitely tell that since he came back, he found that fire again.”
