Retired from the field since 2019, Claudio Marchisio left behind a rich career between Italy, Juventus Turin, Empoli and Zenith Saint Petersburg. Since then, the midfielder with 55 caps with Squadra Azzurra has not hesitated to react to Italian football news. In an interview given to A.S.the 38-year-old former player returned to the doping affair surrounding Paul Pogba, his former teammate at Juve.

And inevitably, Marchisio is affected by the four-year suspension of the French midfielder: “What he's going through hurts me a lot, between the physical and personal problems and the doping affair. He was one of the teammates who impressed me the most on the pitch, injuries didn't allow him to have the career he deserved, he could have aimed for the Ballon d'Or. I think it was a mistake to return to United, it didn't help his development.»
