Clauss, it’s nonsense

The desire of Olympique de Marseille to part ways with Jonathan Clauss goes down badly with some observers.

These last two days of the winter transfer window promise to be once again eventful for Olympique de Marseille. Four players have already arrived – Jean Onana, Ullises Garcia, Faris Moumbagna and Quentin Merlin – but the Marseille leaders are now working to remove one of their senior players and find a replacement.

At the end of his contract in 2025, Jonathan Clauss is in fact pushed towards the exit, OM finding him less invested and fearing that his player will preserve himself in this second half of the season with a view to the Euro. Explanations which do not convince Eric Di Meco.

“Given his status and the importance he has on the field, he is less good, you want to put pressure on him, you do not make a public outing in the press, lamented the former Marseillais at the microphone of RMC. It’s even counterproductive to selling it, compared to the message you send to other clubs. If they do that, it’s because they want to sell. And if you want to sell one of your best players, or even your best, in any case the only French international at OM, what does that mean? »
