A sack bag containing the human parts was, on Wednesday, found near a stream in the Alama community, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
An eyewitness said the dismembered body was that of a man.
A resident of the Alama community, John Badungs, told The PUNCH in Jos on Wednesday that it was street cleaners who discovered the bag that contained a dismembered human body in the morning.
Badungs reported that the cleaners’ alarm drew community residents to the area.
Badungs, who expressed shock over the development, said, “I have not seen something like this before. It was this morning that my neighbour told me that a bag containing the human body was found near a stream close to the Kabong Satellite market.
“When we rushed to the place, we discovered that it was true. The white sack containing the body was tied and dumped on the ground, but you could see the human leg and other parts when you come close to the bag.
“It was indeed a horrible scene, but nobody could tell who the victim was and what happened to him or the people who killed him in such a horrible manner.”
It was learnt that policemen who arrived in the area later evacuated the body bag.
The spokesman for the state police command, Alabo Alfred, confirmed the development when contacted by our correspondent but said that an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident was ongoing
“We can’t say anything concerning the body that was found today in the Alama community because we have commenced investigation. When we are done, we can tell you what happened, ” the PPRO said.
