CM Punk is always there to support those who he believes in no matter what and that certainly includes Roxanne Perez. However, Punk has now clarified why he was smiling beside Perez in a photo following her NXT Women’s Title loss.
The Second City Saint took to his Instagram story and commented on a photo of himself alongside Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade following Perez losing the NXT Women’s Title to Giulia during the January 7 episode of NXT. Punk was smiling in the photo while Jade and Perez looked sad and fans found him smiling to be very odd. Punk clarified that he was smiling because he was proud of Perez and Jade, saying, “Smiling because I am proud of these two.”
The former WWE Champion was backstage at NXT this week as usual since he wanted to observe the young talent and support Roxanne Perez in her match against Giulia. Perhaps that’s why Punk decided to clarify his smiling in the photo in the first place.
We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Roxanne Perez now that she is no longer the NXT Women’s Champion. Many fans feel she will finally make her main roster debut and with the Royal Rumble around the corner, that seems to be the best place for her appearance. If that happens, it’s a safe bet that CM Punk will be one of her loudest supporters, cheering her on every step of the way.
