Bayley prevailed at the Royal Rumble last week, thus earning her ticket for championship opportunity at WrestleMania 40. Shockingly enough, she chose Iyo Sky as her opponent at WrestleMania 40, but she wasn’t at the kickoff press event or even mentioned. Now, CM Punk demanded respect for Bayley after her getting snub.
CM Punk joined the panel at the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Press Event, resulting in chaos. The Rock turned heel when Cody Rhodes replaced him in the main event against Roman Reigns. Meanwhile, Becky Lynch confronted Rhea Ripley, strongly hinting at a WrestleMania match.
A notable absence during the entire commotion was Bayley, whose WrestleMania 40 match is already confirmed. Following the Press Event, Punk emphasized that Bayley, who won the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble Match, remains a top star at The Show of Shows.
However, The Role Model was conspicuously absent in Las Vegas and went unmentioned. CM Punk took to his Instagram story to remind everyone about her, expressing his desire to bring her up during the Press Event.
“I just feel the need to, as a broadcast journalist, express the fact that I really wanted to talk about Bayley and how she won the Royal Rumble for the women, and she wasn’t represented on the poster. It felt like she needed a presence there. I got caught up talking about The Rock and [Roman] Reigns and Cody [Rhodes] and Seth [Rollins] and all that, but very much in the main event mix is Bayley. She won the Rumble, don’t forget it, put some respect on her name.”
Izzy also teased being in Bayley’s corner for WrestleMania 40. We will have to wait and see how Bayley and Iyo Sky’s feud will be booked in the coming weeks, as Damage CTRL is effectively over.
