Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has outlined a strategic plan to challenge the opposition parties, BRS and BJP, ahead of the local body elections. These elections, which include municipal and Panchayat polls, are expected to take place within the next three months. To strengthen his party’s position, Reddy is moving quickly to gain support in key local governance bodies.
As part of his efforts, the Chief Minister launched four major schemes on Republic Day: Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Houses, new ration cards, and Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa. These initiatives are designed to gather public support before the elections. Additionally, the state government is preparing to release the much-anticipated Caste Survey report, which could play a crucial role in rallying the BC (Backward Classes) communities.
The Caste Survey is expected to reshape the political landscape by introducing a new quota for BCs in local body elections. Party leaders believe this move will ensure fair representation for BC communities in governance, which could significantly influence the election results in Congress’s favor.
Chief Minister Reddy is optimistic that the new quotas will secure strong support from BC voters, giving Congress an advantage in the municipal and Panchayat elections. Following the release of the Caste Survey, the government plans to announce detailed development initiatives for municipal bodies and address financial issues faced by Panchayats.

To further boost urban development, the state has already established over 20 Urban Development Authorities. Additional incentives for urban local bodies are expected to be revealed soon, emphasizing the government’s focus on accelerating growth in municipalities.
Congress is aiming to take control of municipal corporations and local bodies, using these new schemes to highlight its commitment to development. Beneficiaries of these programs will receive direct financial benefits in their accounts before the end of March, enhancing the party’s appeal to voters.
The State Election Commission has indicated that elections are likely to be held by late March or early April, following the completion of voter list revisions. Congress leaders are confident that their combination of new initiatives, the Caste Survey, and robust development plans will help them win against the opposition in the upcoming elections.
