Viktor Gyokeres is set to become Europe’s most sought-after striker next summer if his performances continue to alert the biggest clubs in the world.

The Sporting CP star has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach.

Amorim will have plenty of issues to address at United, but perhaps the biggest one is the lack of goals being scored.

Gyokeres could be the answer and United can expect plenty of competition for his signature.

One CNN presenter has revealed that he would prefer to see Gyokeres join Liverpool over United.

Speaking to Maisfutebol, Andre Pipa suggested Gyokeres should move to Anfield.

Pipa said: “They (United) have a coach who knows him, and I don’t know what Gyokeres idea is, whether he likes it or not, I personally prefer to see him in Liverpool, but if he has to go to United, I think it is a great contract for Amorim, because Amorim knows him, and the player knows the coach, and you know, there is a possibility, yes.”

The Scousers have started the season strongly under new manager Arne Slot as they sit five-points clear atop the Premier League. It has been a smooth transition for the Dutchman, who will be eager to add to more quality to his squad in the future.

It comes as no surprise to see Liverpool’s name mentioned in the same sentence as Gyokeres. The Sweden international has scored 16 goals in 11 Primeira Liga matches, while he also have five goals in the Champions League, including a hat-trick from Sporting’s 4-1 win over Man City.

Gyokeres would be a huge improvement on the likes of Darwin Nunez, but we could say the same about Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

United also have Amorim as a pull factor to convince Sporting’s biggest stars that the grass could be greener in Manchester.
