At AEW Revolution 2020, the highly anticipated showdown between Cody Rhodes and MJF reached its climax, marking the culmination of a feud that ignited when MJF betrayed Cody at AEW Full Gear 2019. While MJF emerged victorious in the match, it was Cody who grabbed attention by unveiling his now-iconic American Nightmare logo neck tattoo.

Reflecting on the controversy surrounding Cody’s decision to get the neck tattoo, Britt Baker shared insights during an appearance on Mostly Sports. According to her recollection, there was internal contention at the time because MJF perceived Cody’s actions as an attempt to overshadow their feud during the pay-per-view event.

“At the time, MJF, I don’t know if I can say this, but I’m going to say it because… you know,” Baker began, referring to MJF. “He felt that Cody was trying to steal his thunder because they were in a feud at the pay-per-view.”

Host Brandon Walker chimed in, suggesting Cody was potentially stealing the spotlight, to which Baker agreed, affirming MJF’s sentiments. She noted that while MJF may have been bothered by it initially, his subsequent success has likely shifted his perspective on the matter.

“Yup, that’s what MJF says. I’m sure he doesn’t care now because MJF is successful on his own, but at the time,” Baker said.

Currently, MJF is absent from AEW television following his defeat to Samoa Joe for the AEW World Title at AEW Worlds End.

Baker, meanwhile, has not competed in wrestling matches since September 2023.
