Cody Rhodes has a special ability to connect with fans, which has been a key factor in his journey to becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion. Currently regarded as one of the top babyfaces in WWE, he has recently spoken about his bond with the African American community.

If you didn’t know, Cody Rhodes being relatable to the African American community began when Rhodes talked about his daughter Liberty and many fans created memes about that, joking that Rhodes ended racism.

While speaking to Good Karma Wrestling, The American Nightmare was asked how much it meant to him that African American fans relate to Cody Rhodes and see them on the same pedestal as Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.

Rhodes stated that it’s not something he chose, but something they decided to give him. Cody shared that his father had many African American fans, especially in the South, and he hopes he’s doing something similar. He feels honored by their support and wants to make sure he continues to earn it. Cody Rhodes is very thankful and doesn’t take this connection for granted.

“I’m always really careful because that’s not a choice I can, I can make. It’s a choice that they’ve made. And I’m touched about it, hearing about it now solely because I don’t know what I did. You know, my dad’s biggest fan base was African-American, especially in the South. And I felt like I could see things that maybe he did where they could relate for me.

I don’t know if I am relatable, but the choice to do that and to put their arm around me and let me in, gosh, I just want to make sure I do everything right to honor said choice. But I don’t take it lightly by any means. I’m not the one saying it. Just thank you. And I would never take something like that for granted, because that really is in addition to being fun, when you see all that stuff, it’s incredibly touching. And then I hope I can continue to do whatever I did to earn it in the first place.”

Nonetheless, Cody Rhodes is currently more focused on his upcoming match with Roman Reigns, as they will team up together to face off against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event. It is for certain the African American community will be supporting Cody Rhodes during the bout.
