Cody Rhodes appeared on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown, where he promised to begin a new story this weekend at WrestleMania 40.

Rhodes and Seth Rollins appeared tonight to help out Jey Uso in his match against Solo Sikoa, after things broke down and Jimmy Uso got involved. In the ring, Rhodes pulled out a custom “American Nightmare” weight belt, and he and Rollins began attack Sikoa and Jimmy with it a la The Rock attacking them last week.

After hitting Jimmy Uso with a Cody Cutter, which Jey followed up with a big splash, Rhodes took to the microphone. He said it’s been 40 years of WrestleMania events, and it all leads up to this weekend. Rhodes said that tomorrow, he and Rollins will slap The Rock so hard that “The Final Boss” leaves, and all that’s left is the real People’s Champ.

Rhodes then said that after that, he plans on de-throning Roman Reigns as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. He closed the moment out by saying that he’s fighting for every moment that’s defined him, every fan that’s believed in him, and his own dreams. Sunday at WrestleMania, Rhodes said that when one good story ends, ” an even better one” will begin.
