The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes was one of the founders of the Jacksonville-based promotion AEW. He was the Executive Vice President of the promotion. But in early 2022, Rhodes parted ways with the company. Later that year, at WrestleMania 38 Rhodes made an emphatic return to WWE. Now, he is the current WWE Undisputed Universal Champion.

Recently, while speaking on The Flagrant podcast, Rhodes opened up about what his initial plans were once he had left AEW — he had no plan.

Rhodes mentioned that if he wanted to he certainly could have gone back to All Elite Wrestling but he chose to sign with WWE instead.

“It looked like I had a plan to everybody else, it was a total bluff. I didn’t know what the plan was. I certainly could have gone back (to AEW), we could have figured that out and been fine. Something inside was pointing a different direction for me,” Cody Rhodes said. [H/T Fightful.com]

The American Nightmare recently made history by becoming the first WWE Crown Jewel Champion. He also became the first member of the Rhodes’ family to have captured a championship outside of The United States of America.

Do you think Cody Rhodes could return to All Elite Wrestling in the future?
