Cody Rhodes comments on how The Rock’s return may impact his quest to win the world title.
Ahead of WWE Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes is aiming to win the battle royal for the second year in a row and headline WrestleMania 40. Fans have predicted that a rematch with Roman Reigns is likely, but The Rock’s return at WWE RAW Day 1 teased that WWE may have a major bout between “The Tribal Chief” and “The Great One” lined up.
Speaking with Marc Raimondi of ESPN, Cody Rhodes discussed his road to WrestleMania, which could potentially include The Rock.
“For me to be able to get back [to challenge for the title at WrestleMania], I’ve gotta win in one of those two settings — the Royal Rumble or the Elimination Chamber,” Rhodes said. “And that’s really where my focus is at. I can’t see WrestleMania 40 until I see one of those.”
“I don’t consider him in my way. Maybe he is, and I’m being naive to it. Maybe he maybe he wants to get in, I don’t know. But I don’t consider him in my way. Again, The Rock is one of the main reasons we’re here today. Nothing but respect. But also at the same time, I have to have the respect for myself to know where I’d like to go.”
WrestleZone will have coverage of WWE RAW as it airs on Monday.
