Cody Rhodes offers his praise for Shawn Michaels.

WWE NXT went through a transitional period in recent years with WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels at the helm of the brand’s creative direction. After the show dropped the “2.0” branding, the creative direction was refined and refreshed once the brand had established stars mixed with crossover from the main roster.

While speaking to Marc Raimondi of ESPN, WWE star Cody Rhodes sang the praises of Michaels. Rhodes credited Michaels for helping to turn around NXT’s television product while also developing the future stars of tomorrow.

“Maybe one of the hardest things to do in all of sports entertainment is get a show that’s maybe lost it’s cool and get it to be cool again. And Shawn Michaels has done that,” Rhodes said. “And he’s done it while also developing all these relationships with these young kids who are going to have Shawn Michaels as the first booker that the dealt with, as somebody who helped them with promos, somebody who helped in their matches.

“It’s almost laughable if you say it. Because every one of those kids should come up being the best wrestler of all time, the best superstar of all time just because it’s Shawn Michaels. So I think history is going to be very kind to Shawn. Not just as one of the greatest to ever do it and a Hall of Famer and all those things. But he took what, respectfully, had kind of lost some of its shine. And he’s absolutely brought it back to where it’s doing really great numbers and you’re seeing a little bit of crossover. It was a very fun experience for me to be in his house on that night. It was very special.”
