Cody Rhodes has his eye on winning the 2024 Royal Rumble to match his 2023 win. He wants to finish his story, and that is the only way to Roman Reigns he sees. Now, we need to see how this all plays out, but DDP is all aboard the Nightmare Family, and he has been for years.

DDP and Cody Rhodes go a long way back, even to Cody’s childhood. He remembers his father, the legendary Dusty Rhodes, taking him to events where DDP was around. That bond has lasted, and DDP is right there with pro wrestling fans who want to see Rhodes on top.

While speaking to Busted Open Radio, DDP stated that he sees Cody Rhodes as a real People’s Champion, and there is no way to convince him otherwise.

“The reason why this [the WrestleMania 40 main event] works for Cody [Rhodes] and Roman [Reigns] — it’s old-school. Everything about it is old-school. Let’s build to the big pay-per-view, which is doing the biggest business they’ve ever done as far as numbers are concerned … They’re doing the biggest business; that’s what it comes down to, and Cody [Rhodes] is a humungous reason for that … Now, he’s — the original ‘People’s Champion’ was Muhammad Ali. Dusty Rhodes. “Diamond” Dallas Page. The Rock. And now it’s Cody. That’s ‘The People’s Champion.’ They want it so bad.”

On the second night of WrestleMania 39, The Tribal Chief successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes, who won the 2023 Royal Rumble to get him that match. Rhodes has experienced a surge in popularity and is now considered a prominent contender for this year’s men’s Rumble match.

On the other hand, Johnson made a return to WWE Raw this month and took verbal jabs at Reigns, making reference to his “Head of the Table” moniker. Recent reports indicate that a Reigns-Johnson matchup is anticipated to headline WrestleMania in April. After last year’s Show of Shows, there were indications that a Reigns vs. Rhodes rematch was WWE’s envisioned as a long-time direction, with speculations about the title clash occurring at WrestleMania 40.

Only time will tell how this all plays out. There could be some interesting politics at play, moves that may be downplayed if they are asked about it today, but we may hear a lot more in the future. Keep checking back with Ringside News for more on this story, and so many more.
