Colin Jost To Host Pop Culture ‘Jeopardy!’ Spinoff For Prime Video

What is: Colin Jost is hosting a new Jeopardy! spinoff.

The Saturday Night Live star will host Pop Culture Jeopardy! for Prime Video. It marks the first time that a spinoff of the long-running quiz show has been made exclusively for streaming. The series has been in the works for some time, having been announced in May at Amazon’s Upfronts.

Jost, who is currently in Tahiti covering the Olympics surfing for NBC and navigating nasty toe injuries, will lead the series, which comes from Sony Pictures Television, the studio behind Jeopardy!

The Weekend Update star was previously a clue twice on Jeopardy! but the contestants didn’t know who Jost was either time. “I found out about it because my mom sent me the clip and she said ‘I would have gotten it’. When you’re a clue on Jeopardy!, you feel like you’ve made it but then in the same moment you realize ‘Oh, I have not’.”

Pop Culture Jeopardy! is a new twist on the classic show that originally started in 1964 that features three contestants trying to be experts in categories such as alternative rock, the Avengers, MMA, Broadway, Gen Z and Zendaya.

Michael Davies, who is showrunner of Jeopardy!, exec produces the series.
