EXCLUSIVE: Comic Kelsey Cook has announced that her second special, Mark Your Territory, is set to premiere globally on Hulu and YouTube on February 11.
Cook came to tape her new hour at Comedy on State in Madison, WI after moving to Minnesota in the dead of winter to live with her boyfriend, fellow comedian Chad Daniels. In the special, she lets audiences in on the perks of dating an older man, the insanity of IUD insertions, navigating a parent with dementia, and much more. Cook looks to be establishing herself as a mainstay at Hulu, after premiering her first special The Hustler there this past August. Check out a trailer for the new special above.
Cook’s deal is notable as one of the few that have set up a special to premiere on YouTube and a major streaming platform simultaneously, sources said. This is, of course, a strategic advantage for an up-and-coming comic looking to boost her exposure. Cook’s first special, The Hustler, has garnered over 3.6 million views since debuting on Hulu, and is another with YouTube ties, having premiered initially on that service.
Directed by Eric Abrams, who worked with Cook on The Hustler, and produced by 800 Pound Gorilla, Mark Your Territory‘s EPs include Ian Adkins, Ryan Bitzer, Damion Greiman, Anthony Leo, Lisa Mierke and Cook, who is otherwise perhaps best known for co-hosting the podcast Pretend Problems alongside boyfriend Daniels. Every week, they use it as a platform to open up about arguments they’ve overcome, communication strategies, navigating being apart on tour and more. The pair are set to co-headline a small tour of theater shows this year.
Cook has performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon multiple times, and has also appeared on Comedy Central’s This Is Not Happening, Epix’s Unprotected Sets, NBC’s A Little Late with Lilly Singh, CBS’s The Talk and After Midnight, and Greatest Party Story Ever on MTV. Her foosball web series Wrists of Fury currently has over 20 episodes, where she hustles fellow comedians who don’t know about her prowess in the tabletop sport.
Cook is represented by CAA and Mosaic.
