EXCLUSIVE: Up-and-coming comic Preacher Lawson has announced that his second special, My Name Is Preacher, will debut on YouTube on March 18th.
Marking his follow-up to 2019’s Get to Know Me, which released on BET+ and later Prime Video, My Name Is Preacher sees the comedian discuss everything from his nomadic upbringing, to navigating life with a mischievous dog, to getting pulled over on his birthday, with an emphasis on family.
“Family is very important to me,” Lawson said. “My mom opened for me at the taping of my special, my brother is a frequent collaborative of mine, and my fans are a part of my extended family. It’s why I spent the past five years working on this material for my fans and their families and I can’t wait for them all to see it.”
Boasting over 3.4 million followers on TikTok and over 640,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel, featuring clips of everything from his stand-up to MMA training and vegan cooking tips, Lawson honed his chops as a comic in Orlando, FL before breaking out with his appearance on Season 12 of America’s Got Talent, where he made it to the final rounds. This led to appearances on America’s Got Talent: The Champions and Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions, where he advanced to the finale, and most recently, being handpicked by Howie Mandel to participate in America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League.
The host of Facebook Watch’s series World’s Most Amazing Dogs, which had George Lopez and Lisa Vanderpump as judges, Lawson has also appeared on HBO’s A Black Lady Sketch Show, Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, TBS’s Tournament of Laughs and NBC’s Connecting, where he was a series regular.
Currently on his “Best Day Ever!” comedy tour, Lawson’s new special was directed by Gordie Earle III and produced by Don’t Tell Comedy. Lawson and Adam Ginivisian served as executive producers. The performer is repped by CAA, Levity Entertainment Group, and Felker Toczek Suddleson.
