EXCLUSIVE: Thirty, Flirty, and Crying, the debut comedy special of rising New York-based stand-up Shannon Fiedler, has been set to premiere on YouTube on Wednesday, September 25.

Directed by Laura Lucchetti, the special is described as a smart and sometimes silly exploration of what it means to be a woman who’s recently turned that number after 29. With riffs on such universal topics as the horrors of dating, the pressures of ordering the right wine, and the inherent dangers of using public restrooms, Fiedler strikes multiple chords with both male and female fans alike. The overarching theme of, “I’m too young to be this old,” informs the hour, as she shares glimpses of the path that has led her to being the woman she is still in the process of becoming.

In a statement to Deadline, Fiedler shared, “This special is something I’ve been working on for literal years, and I’m so excited to finally put it out into the world. Most of my fans have found me through social media, and so, many of them have never seen my stand up. In fact, I think a lot of them might not even know that I do it!”

Fiedler said that while the “themes and point of view” of the show mirror those of her past work, the special is also a “much more personal exploration” of subjects she tends to focus on.

Added the comic, “Stand up is a place where I’m not taking on characters, but am instead sharing my own stories and opinions — and as a result, connecting with my audience even more. I can’t wait for people to see this other facet of my comedy and to share this show — and a lot of laughter — with all of you!”

Stated director Lucchetti, “Shannon is a star. I’m thrilled to be directing this special. Women are magnificent, it’s important to have representation in front and behind the camera as well as above and below the line. The crew for this project was a majority female from top to bottom which we are extremely proud of.”

Moving to New York City in 2014 to pursue acting, Fiedler began to experiment with stand-up five years later and has since amassed over 450k followers on social media. Known for her relatable — albeit exaggerated — characters, she likes to distill ordinary situations to their most entertaining essence.

Named a Comic To Watch at the 2023 New York Comedy Festival, Fiedler has had her work featured on various media platforms, including BuzzFeed, Barstool Sports, Overheard New York, Betches, and Gratzia. She is represented by Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
