Cong vows to eliminate Old City’s status as ‘largest urban slum’

The Congress candidate from Hyderabad constituency, Waliullah Sameer, spoke about the party’s positive approach and comprehensive development agenda. He expressed the party’s goal of removing the tag of the ‘largest urban slum’ from the Old City area in Telangana and outlined a clear plan for progress.

Sameer, along with Congress senior leaders, addressed the media before a roadshow in the Yakutpura segment of the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. He accused MIM and BJP of using Hindus and Muslims as mere vote banks and criticized them for incomplete projects like Charminar Pedestrianisation and Musi River rejuvenation due to lack of funding and bureaucratic issues.

The Congress Government in Telangana has already started projects worth over Rs. 50,000 crore in the Old City, including the Hyderabad Metro Rail and Musi Riverfront Development Project. Sameer promised to create jobs for 5,000 youth, offer subsidised loans to 50,000 jobless young people, and lay the foundation for a super-speciality hospital within 100 days if elected.

He criticized MIM and BJP for dividing Hyderabad along communal lines since 1962 and intensifying this pattern after the emergence of the BJP in 1984. Sameer emphasized the need for change, stating that both parties have neglected the people’s needs and enabled each other to survive without progress.
