Construction sector to experience 2.4% growth – Report

The construction industry is anticipated to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 2.4 per cent between 2024 and 2028, a report by Big 5 Construct has stated.

The team of Big 5 construct disclosed this in a statement to announce the 4th edition of its trade exhibition slated for September 24-26, 2024.

It stated, “Thanks to the government’s focused infrastructure development strategies and support. Prioritising economic development, public and private investment in the housing sector, and strengthening external demand. Nigeria’s government is reshaping the industry and the future of the country.

“Tapping into opportunities emerging from ongoing and upcoming projects in the country is the 4th edition of Big 5 Construct Nigeria, taking place from 24-26 September 2024 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos.

“The event is expected to host more than 9,000 professionals and 150 exhibitors from 20 countries. As the largest construction trade exhibition to date in Lagos, Big 5 Construct Nigeria connects industry professionals to opportunities and partnerships.”

According to the portfolio director, Construction, DMG Events, Mehtap Gürsoy, Big 5 Construct Nigeria is timed this year to match the surge in construction activity in the country, creating significant demand for innovative products and solutions, particularly from key buyers involved in ongoing and upcoming projects in Nigeria’s $128bn construction market (Source: ABIQ).

 It noted that this year’s event would host a score of new exhibiting companies from many different countries.

 It added, “Some of the renowned international brands showcasing their products, services and solutions for the first time at Big 5 Construct Nigeria, include Schneider Electric, a French multinational corporation that specialises in digital automation; Swiss Krono, a leading supplier of wood-based interior design, flooring, and building materials; and Framecad International, A UAE-based leader of steel framing building innovation.

“Others are Saint Gobain, a French light and sustainable construction giant; Peri Formwork, a manufacturer and supplier of formwork and scaffolding systems and Bosch, a German multinational engineering and technology company.”

 Commenting, the Country Business Manager, Bosch Nigeria, Samson Ajayi, said for the first time, the firm would participate in the Big 5 Construct Exhibition.

According to Ajayi, the GWS 30-230 from its power tools division, a new angle grinder engineered specifically for heavy-duty construction applications, would be showcased.

 “Among local players presenting their expertise and solutions for the first time at the event are Scavin, a plastics solutions provider; Cormart Nigeria, a leading supplier of chemical raw materials; African Industries, the largest steel manufacturing company in Nigeria; Savvytech, an engineering and procurement service provider; Purechem Industries, Nigeria’s leading green building products company; and Vitapur Nigeria, an insulation manufacturing leader.

 “We will also feature the GRL 600 rotational laser from our measuring tools section, offering 360° precision, along with a selection of accessories and our latest car technologies, all designed to meet specific needs of construction activities,” he added.
