Consulate boosts Nigeria-India ties through community projects

The Consulate-General of India High Commission in Lagos, Chandramaouli Kern, has praised the Indian community in their efforts to uplift local communities through collaborative projects and service, which, according to him, go a long way in strengthening Nigeria-India relations.

Kern made this known at the investiture ceremony of Suresh Nayak as President of the Rotary Club of Eko Atlantic and Service Project launch held at Lagoon Hotel, Lagos.

He expressed gratitude for the involvement of the Indian community in Nigeria.

“I am very happy to be here, because they are harbingers of hope, magic and happiness all around. The presence of Rotary in Lagos is one of the strong instruments for Nigerian and Indian cooperation,” he said.

He added that the Rotary Club, widely recognised for its charitable work in both nations, had facilitated numerous initiatives, including blood donations, school renovations and food distribution drives, stressing that Indian nationals in Lagos had played a crucial role in these projects, solidifying their ties to Nigeria.

Also speaking, the Governor of Rotary 9112, Femi Adenekan, appreciated the new president of the club for his past contributions and encouraged him and his team to continue the club’s mission to bring about positive change in Nigeria.

Reacting to their goodwill messages, Nayak, stated that his new position in the club offered him an opportunity to do community service, give back to the society, who had been supporting us all your while, in terms of education, welfare, environment, among others.
